Bedlington Partnership Consultation Process 2009

Under the Education Act (2000) schools have a duty to consult with children, young people, parents / carers and other stakeholder around local needs and gaps, and how people want their extended services to be developed and delivered.
In the Bedlingtonshire partnership, this will be done in a number of ways:

In June 2009 the team organised an information session for school governors at Choppington Welfare. The aim of the meeting was to gain governor approval for our staffing structure 2009-2011 in addition to re-establishing the governor forum which would help us strategically to drive extended services forward.

A questionnaire is in the process of being added to our website so we can ascertain the views of parents and young adults

All headteachers have been through an online audit so we can prioritise individual school needs as they work towards full core offer status 2010

From sept 2009 the strategic lead will be working with school councils in order to survey children in all 14 partnership schools. it is hoped that some of the children will become peer researchers and be actively engaged in the consultation process
