Information Stands

infostand3.jpg

Have you seen the Information Stand in your school yet? The stand will be near your school reception, and it contains lots of information about childcare, local activities, adult learning, and support for families. There is a range of leaflets on the stand which cover local childcare, sports activities, parenting, specialist family support services and adult learning, all with useful contact details.
Although schools have internal noticeboards we are in the process of buying each school an external noticeboard specifically for extended services, which will inform you about whats happening in your area.

Bedlington Partnership Schools celebrate Full Extended Services Core Offer status

Following recent Extended Services reviews with your Head Teacher, we are pleased to announce that all 14 schools in Bedlington Partnership have achieved the Government's target of "full core offer." Schools have to show that they are providing the full range of extended services, which include access to childcare, activities, parenting support, specialist services and adult learning. Many schools are excelling in certain areas, but there are also some weak points, which we will be prioritising in our new Extended Services Partnership Plan which starts in September. This includes more opportunities for families to learn together, more structured support around being a parent, and an exciting project to help children who need extra support to learn and attend school at an early stage.

Dad's Challenge at Choppington

Choppington First School recently held a 'Dad's Challenge'. Dads from 20 families (including some mums too) came and spent the afternoon taking part in a fun event, which involved making a family flag and flagpole. Prizes were given for a stand alone structure that would allow you to raise the flag and the highest pole. Everyone had lots of fun, and two hours passed very quickly! The day was a great success and 'Extended Services' in partnership with the school, will be offering more opportunities for family learning over the next few months. The new headteacher, Mrs Hilda Blythe praised the enthusiasm of the parents, who gave lots of their time to encourage their children.
